Plant tissue culture protocols and methods
These independently written methods explain the published methods behind micropropagation of plants we grow or study at JungleBotanics. Each page cites primary research, identifies the exact species or cultivar tested, and separates reported results from proposed small-laboratory trials. A published response in one cultivar must not be treated as a guaranteed result in another.
- Monstera deliciosa ‘Thai Constellation’ from axillary buds — published media and establishment sequence.
- Begonia rex from petiole tissue — direct shoot regeneration, elongation and rooting.
- Alocasia longiloba from seed-derived shoot tips — a seedling route that does not clone named cultivars.
- Philodendron shoots — published BAP and auxin treatments plus a separate, clearly labelled initiation pilot for variegated lines.
Plants still in method development
We do not yet present species-specific operating protocols for ZZ Chameleon, Epipremnum amplissimum variegated, Rhaphidophora White Monster, Brassaiopsis fatsioides, rare Euphorbia, blue oil fern or our named Colocasia. Available papers are not sufficient to claim a validated, true-to-type method for those exact lines. We will add protocols when the explant route, media and identity checks are supported and can be described accurately.
Using these pages
Read the primary paper, confirm the chemical form and final concentration of every ingredient, and validate the sterilisation cycle and light conditions on your own equipment. Record accession, donor, media batch, contamination, usable shoots, rooting, acclimatisation and phenotype. Published protocols are starting points; each new cultivar needs its own verification.
