Evidence and guide standards

Use the evidence behind a method to judge whether it suits your plant and setup. These are different kinds of information:

  • Published research: a method or result from an identified source. The species, cultivar, explant and growing conditions matter; a result is not assumed to transfer unchanged to every ornamental cultivar.
  • Practical growing guidance: an explanation or suggested approach to help you make decisions. Adjust it to the plant's development, container, substrate and environment.
  • Nursery observations: findings from JungleBotanics plants. An observation is not a guarantee for every plant. Quantified trial results should state the sample size, dates, conditions and outcomes.
  • Proposed trials: work planned for evaluation, without claiming that results have already been demonstrated.

For technical methods, check the primary source for chemical form, final concentration, sterilisation, light and temperature. A useful trial record identifies the plant, method, conditions and dates, then records losses as well as contamination, rooting, usable growth, acclimation and phenotype. This makes the limits of a finding clear.
