Pot size: 12 cm nursery pot
You will receive: one established plant of a similar size and likeness to the photograph. Leaf count, shape and the amount and placement of variegation will vary.
Alocasia Frydek Variegated care
- Light: Bright, indirect light. Protect the pale tissue from intense midday sun.
- Water: Water thoroughly when the upper 2–3 cm of compost begins to dry. Drain fully and avoid keeping the root zone permanently wet.
- Humidity: Moderate to high humidity is beneficial when combined with airflow.
- Temperature: Keep warm, ideally at 18–27°C, and away from cold draughts.
- Soil: Use a loose, moisture-retentive aroid mix with good aeration and drainage.
- Feeding: Feed lightly but regularly during active growth; reduce feeding when winter growth slows.
Variegation and seasonal growth
Future leaves cannot be guaranteed to match the photographed pattern. White tissue contains less chlorophyll and may age or mark more quickly than green tissue. In cooler, darker UK winter conditions, Alocasia can slow substantially or lose leaves; reduce watering in line with reduced growth while keeping the corm warm.
Important information
Alocasia contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals and is harmful if chewed or swallowed. Keep away from pets and children.
