Begonia pavonina – Peacock Begonia

Begonia pavonina, often called the Peacock Begonia, is grown for broad foliage that can display a blue iridescent sheen, contrasting with red leaf undersides. Supplied in a 1 L nursery pot.

The two photographs show the foliage from different views. The blue sheen changes with lighting and viewing angle, so the leaves will not appear equally blue in every setting.

Plant care

• Light: Filtered, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct sun.
• Water: Keep the potting mix lightly moist, allowing excess water to drain. Avoid waterlogged roots or letting the mix dry completely.
• Humidity: Provide a humid position with gentle airflow; a plant cabinet can help maintain consistent conditions.
• Temperature: Keep indoors in a frost-free position away from cold draughts and excessive heat.
• Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth, following the fertiliser label.
