Begonia Maculata Pink Variegated is a collector Begonia grown for its distinctive spotted foliage with contrasting pink variegation. Pattern and colour can vary naturally between leaves and new shoots, making each plant individual.
Choose your option
- Fresh cutting: A fresh, unrooted stem cutting for you to root and establish.
- Established plant (12 cm pot): An established, rooted plant supplied in a 12 cm pot.
The photographs illustrate the plant's foliage. The fresh cutting option is not the full plant pictured.
Begonia Maculata Pink Variegated care
Provide bright, indirect light and stable warmth. Good light supports compact growth, pigmentation and leaf development, but plants grown under protected conditions should be acclimated gradually before exposure to stronger light. Pale and pink-variegated areas can be particularly vulnerable to scorching.
Watering and substrate
Use a light, aerated substrate that retains useful moisture without remaining continuously saturated. Water when the upper portion begins to dry. Fine roots still require oxygen, so avoid keeping the entire root zone permanently waterlogged.
Humidity and airflow
Moderate humidity supports healthy foliage and can reduce excessive water loss. Higher humidity is useful during propagation and establishment but slows substrate drying, so watering frequency should change with humidity, temperature and airflow rather than follow a fixed schedule.
Pink variegation
The amount and distribution of pink patterning can vary between successive leaves. Current foliage cannot guarantee the exact appearance of future growth. Changes in pattern should be assessed across the active shoot and developing leaves rather than from one leaf alone.
How do you propagate Begonia Maculata Pink Variegated?
Stem cuttings provide a direct method of propagating cane-type Begonias because they retain viable nodes and an existing shoot axis. During rooting, maintain enough atmospheric humidity to limit dehydration while keeping the rooting medium moist and aerated rather than continuously saturated.
