A moisture-retentive, airy growing medium for many tropical houseplant ferns, including bird’s nest ferns and other container-grown species that prefer consistent moisture with reliable drainage.
The proposed JungleBotanics blend combines fine buffered coco coir, fine orchid bark and perlite to support moisture retention, aeration and root-zone drainage.

- 60% fine buffered coco coir
- 20% fine orchid bark
- 20% perlite
Available sizes
- 5 litres
- 10 litres
Use in pots with drainage holes. Keep the substrate moist but not waterlogged, and keep Asplenium crowns above the surface of the mix.
Please note: This is a draft trial formulation rather than a universal or species-validated fern substrate. Mounted staghorns, calcicole species and outdoor ferns may require different media. The mix does not contain a complete fertiliser charge.
