How Monstera Albo variegation behaves
Variegation can differ markedly between leaves and between different regions of the stem. The appearance of one leaf cannot guarantee the pattern of the next because new foliage develops from the active growth point and the cell populations represented there.

Light
Provide bright, indirect light. White tissue contains little or no functional chlorophyll, so heavily variegated plants have less photosynthetic capacity than fully green plants. At the same time, pale tissue can be more visually susceptible to damage under abrupt intense exposure.
Watering and substrate
Use a coarse, aerated substrate that drains freely while retaining useful moisture. Water according to the actual drying rate rather than a fixed calendar. Constant saturation restricts gas exchange around roots, while severe drying can reduce water supply to expanding foliage.
Humidity and airflow

Propagating Monstera Albo
Stem cuttings require a viable node. Variegation on the stem and around the axillary bud is more informative for future growth than the appearance of the existing leaf alone. During rooting, keep the cutting hydrated while maintaining oxygen around the basal tissue and developing roots.

New shoots can become greener or more highly variegated depending on which tissues contribute to the active meristem. Persistent all-green growth may continue producing greener foliage, while excessively white growth can struggle because of reduced photosynthetic capacity.
