The photographs show the expected type and approximate quality. When multiple plants become available, you will receive a plant of similar likeness rather than the exact plant pictured. Leaf pattern, pink colour, size, shape and variegation will vary naturally between individual plants and successive leaves.

Plant characteristics

• Compact, self-heading Alocasia growth.
• Dark green to near-black velvety leaves.
• Contrasting pale venation.
• Variable white, cream and pink-toned variegation.
• Collector plant suited to warm indoor growing conditions.

Light

Provide bright, indirect light. Variegated areas contain less chlorophyll than green tissue, but strong direct sun can still scorch the leaves. Increase light gradually after moving the plant.

Watering and substrate

Use a structured, aerated substrate that retains some moisture without remaining waterlogged. Water thoroughly, allow excess water to drain and adjust the next watering to the plant’s root activity, temperature and drying rate rather than following a fixed schedule.

Temperature and humidity

Maintain warm, stable conditions and protect the plant from cold draughts and chilled windows. Moderate to high humidity can support leaf expansion, but humidity should be accompanied by gentle airflow. During darker UK winter conditions, growth and water use may slow.

Variegation

Variegation is naturally variable and cannot be guaranteed on every future leaf. Pink tones may also change as leaves mature. Assess the balance of healthy green tissue, active growth and root condition rather than judging the plant from one leaf alone.

What you will receive

When restocked, this listing will supply one established Alocasia Black Velvet Pink Variegated in a 9 cm nursery pot. A plant of similar likeness will be selected; individual appearance and variegation will vary.

UK delivery

Live plants are packed carefully and dispatched within the United Kingdom on JungleBotanics dispatch days. Seasonal growth, minor cosmetic marks and variation between leaves are normal characteristics of living plants.
