Monstera Aurea Large Form is a collector Monstera grown for yellow-to-gold variegation and large-form growth characteristics. The amount and distribution of aurea patterning can vary between successive leaves as the active growth point develops.

Monstera Aurea Large Form care

Provide bright, indirect light, stable warmth and a coarse, well-aerated aroid substrate. Increase light gradually rather than exposing protected foliage abruptly to intense sun.

Watering and substrate

Water thoroughly when the upper portion of the substrate begins to dry, then allow excess water to drain. The root zone should retain useful moisture while preserving enough air-filled pore space for root respiration.

Humidity, support and growth

Warm conditions and moderate to high humidity can support active growth. Higher humidity slows substrate drying, so watering frequency should respond to the environment. Provide suitable climbing support as the plant develops to encourage mature growth.

How stable is the aurea variegation?

Yellow sectors contain less chlorophyll than fully green tissue, and future leaves may show more or less variegation than current foliage. Assess new growth across the active shoot rather than judging stability from a single leaf.

Propagation

Propagation is from stem material containing a viable node and growth point. When selecting variegated material, stem and node patterning are more informative than the attached leaf alone.
